Hard rock small turning TBM: efficient construction reduces ecological disturbance

Self-flowing drainage tunnels often face complex geological conditions such as hard rocks and fractured zones. Traditional construction methods with low efficiency and long cycles are prone to exacerbating continuous interference with the surrounding environment. Northern Heavy Industries is closely adhering to the requirement of "ecological priority" and exploring TBM technology with small turning radius for hard rocks.

On August 11th, at the site of the water source supply project in the western part of the Shenzhen Shantou Special Cooperation Zone, a 3.53-meter hard rock small turning TBM manufactured by Northern Heavy Industries was successfully launched. This TBM is specially designed around the requirements of self-flowing drainage tunnels, and its core advantages are developed based on actual engineering needs. Firstly, it is flexible and adaptable to small radius, with a minimum turning radius of only 30 meters, greatly improving the flexibility of narrow tunnel operations and reducing additional disturbance to the surface topography caused by tunnel detours; The second is intelligent high-strength rock breaking. The cutterhead adopts high-strength alloy cutting tools and is equipped with an intelligent control system to adjust the excavation parameters in real time, ensuring stable advancement of hard rock formations and avoiding mountain vibrations and ecological damage caused by traditional drilling and blasting methods; The third is to significantly shorten the construction period. Faced with high rock strength formations, this equipment effectively solves the problems of low efficiency and high safety risks of traditional drilling and blasting methods. It can reduce about 60% of the operating personnel, shorten the construction period by more than 50%, and reduce the comprehensive construction cost by about 15%. By compressing the construction period, the continuous impact of the project on the surrounding ecological environment can be directly reduced, and the construction concept of "efficient construction and minimal ecological disturbance" can be implemented.

Deep-shaft Excavation Technology: safeguarding safety and ecology with high-end equipment

The deep-shaft engineering of pumped storage power stations generally has the characteristics of large depth and high rock strength. Traditional construction methods with low efficiency and high safety risks are prone to damaging rock stability and causing ecological risks. Northern Heavy Industries practices the requirements of "coordinated development and safety", develops hard rock deep shaft drilling machines, and solves the dual problems of "safety" and "ecology" with high-end equipment.

The equipment adopts a V-shaped cutterhead for excavation, using the guide shaft excavated from the previous anti shaft construction as a slag chute for self-sliding and slag discharge, and completing the slag discharge in the lower horizontal tunnel. The formation seepage flows through the guide well to the lower level tunnel and is discharged by the drainage system of the lower level tunnel; The wellbore support adopts anchor mesh spraying, anchor spraying and other forms of support to achieve simultaneous expansion spraying. The equipment integrates a cutterhead excavation system, a main drive system, a shoe support system, a wellbore support system, a material transportation system, a hydraulic fluid system, an electrical system, a fire protection system etc. to achieve mechanized, automated, and integrated construction of vertical shafts, realizing functions such as "unmanned and few people going down the well, remote intelligent monitoring", and implementing all-round multi perspective, few person intelligent monitoring, automated remote control, and early warning and alarm for excavation and follow-up support operations.
